Trying to Make Both Ends Meet



make both ends meet: to earn and spend equal amounts of money. If you make both ends meet, you live within your means and don't go into debt.

    The caption also could have read something like "I'm tired of chasing my own tail." These old funny cards usually make me groan and then laugh.

    At least he can still afford a vacation! Somewhere I have one of those things you impale documents on. (What are they called, anyway?) I prefer paper weights and binder clips.
