Trying to Make Both Ends Meet



make both ends meet: to earn and spend equal amounts of money. If you make both ends meet, you live within your means and don't go into debt.

  3. At least he can still afford a vacation! Somewhere I have one of those things you impale documents on. (What are they called, anyway?) I prefer paper weights and binder clips.
